Recent Developments

So much has changed recently and here you can see just one of the groups that now use the hall.  Yoga is extremely popular.

The past year has seen great improvements to the interior of the Old Bluecoat School.  Crumbling walls have been repaired and painted, the floor carpeted and blinds added to the windows. Heating is in the process of being installed and the trust has now purchased chairs having kindly borrowed from the Town Council in the past.

These improvements together with a wash and brush up to the toilet and kitchen and stage lighting (on a long term loan) have created a venue suitable for many activities. Much of this development has been paid for in part by grants from Greenham Common Trust as well as funds raised by the Trustees.  There are more improvements in the pipeline including the purchase of a piano to replace the one that is on loan at present.

There have been Sunday afternoon tea concerts and these have proved very popular often attracting a capacity audience.  Those performing are of professional status and have been very pleased with the venue.  Trustees have achieved the long-time aim to see the Old Bluecoat School used as a community facility for cultural and artistic activities.  Bookings can be made at Thatcham Town Council.

This review shows how far reaching the concerts have been!  The next series starts in October 2013.
